The Gao Bureau of Tourism is
comprised of three full-time staff members, one Peace Corps volunteer, and
several volunteer office helpers. All of our staff members are here to
help make your visit as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. They can
all answer your questions and make great suggestions about visiting Gao.
Chef du Bureau - Kata Data Alhousseini Maga Staff Member - Mahamane Boubou Maga
Mahamane has worked for the Gao Regional Bureau of Tourism since 2001. He is a lifelong resident of Gao and speaks French, Songha, and Bambara. He is knowledgeable about both the history and sites of Gao. Staff Member - Aboubacar Sidick N. Kon
Aboubacar has worked with the Gao Regional Bureau of Tourism since 2006. He started with OMATHO in the Kidal region in 2005. Aboubacar's university studies were in history and archeology. He is responsible for tourism statistics for the Gao bureau of tourism. Mr. Kon comes from Bamako. Office Volunteer - Mahamane "Anthony" Tour
Anthony volunteers his services around the office. He knows more about the history of Gao than almost anyone in town and is a wonderful resource for those that want to know more than the standard things found in guidebooks about Gao. Mohamed Tour also helps out around the office. He is also an official tour guide and the president of the local guide association. He can help visitors to arrange trips or can accompany them as a guide. He also owns his own pirogue with motor and can take visitors on Dune Rose trips and to see the hippos of Tasharan. |
